Ringing in the 2008 New Year was more than just a celebration of the year past and the year to come: At 10 minutes to midnight on January 31st 2007, we officially became a Nation! It was a very happy New Year!
I was introduced to Arbonne in March of 2003 by my good friend, ENVP Christina Hayford. At the time I was not looking for a job or a way out of my job. In fact, I loved where I worked and what I did. So when ENVP Linda Parker conducted an “Group” Presentation for Christy, I paid little attention to the business aspect. I remember sitting there thinking, “I have a fulltime job, a 1 year old daughter, a husband, two dogs, a cat and a house — my life is full.” I was not looking to add to that. But it was the products that sold me. I was blown away by what I learned at the class and had to have the entire set. Not only was I blown away by Linda’s Presentation, but it was as if she was there to solve a problem my husband and I had been talking about only days before. At the time, my husband was a chemist for a pharmaceutical company and tended to read the ingredient labels on everything from food to shampoo to floor cleaner. The weekend before I heard Linda’s Presentation, my husband and I were shopping for soap when he said that he wished we could find a soap that was made with natural ingredients. He was looking for something that did not require a harsh chemical to remove the residue it left behind on tubs and sinks, something mild for our skin. In the end we grabbed a bar of something and went on our way. Yet at the Presentation, I discovered that Arbonne’s products were exactly what he was looking for. That night I went home and handed him the catalogue and told him what I had learned. After reading the catalogue several times, he said, “Buy more!”
I hosted my first Presentation for the sake of the great Host rewards, and quickly decided to sign up. Little did I know that in a little over a year, I would be able to go from working full time to working one day a week. One year from that, in 2005, I was privileged to participate in the Mercedes-Benz cash bonus program, getting a white Mercedes-Benz. The amazing part was that during my qualification for Regional Vice President I was pregnant with twins, put on bed rest and finally had my boys all while earning my car!
Getting my white Mercedes-Benz was incredibly exciting, but what I realized soon afterwards was that the real reward was in promoting Regional Vice Presidents. Seeing people on my team reach their goals was just as successful and rewarding for me as reaching my own goals. Watching and helping my team grow has taught me so much, and I am incredibly thankful for each and every one of them.
I will never forget where I was, what I was doing or who I was with this past New Year’s Eve. I was with my incredibly loving and supportive husband, on the phone with my dear friend ENVP Christina Hayford and receiving wonderful e-mails from my team and sidelines congratulating us on going Nation. Outside, neighbors were celebrating the New Year as well. I could hear the cheers and horns, and thought there would have been no other time better than New Year’s Eve to go Nation!

We joke about it now, but when we started, our goal was to buy products at cost and to earn a few extra dollars a month. Here we are now as NVPs and in an amazing business together. No one other than a best friend would do that. Thank you so much for mentoring me and my team. You are an inspiring leader with great vision!
